How did we get from V50 Monza rebuild to pensions?

I would hazard a guess that there are many pensioners here?

Keep an eye on the "Today's Birthdays" bit at the bottom of the home page.

Your guess is more than vindicated.

I did too. But I have no illusions that a future government would not be able to change things. Note how public sector pensions are always described as "gold plated" when in fact the vast majority are just a few thousand pounds. It would be easy to portray those of us getting them as worthless scroungers and stop paying. They've already changed the way index linking works (for the worse) and got away with it.

Look also at the "waspi" women and how they've been robbed of what they were promised.

The fact is that decent pensions are perfectly affordable and the money exists. It's just in the wrong hands. Roll on wealth / "mansion" taxes and steep increases in inheritance tax although I have no expectation that anyone will do that.

We should be more stroppy like the French (I'd missed the index linked thing) bastards.
I was born in Sparkhill by the way.

I think I have finally made some progress with the DVLA as a letter arrived telling me that I can stamp my own frame and then my local MOT tester can verify that the new VIN is permanent and readable. They will then register my bike on the plate that came with it as well as changing my MOT to reflect all the new data.

Chris,
I have  Letters and numbers sets if you want to borrow them
or I could stamp the number on a piece of steel sheet so you can tack mig weld it to frame under the seat area.
Im only near Selby YO85JP.
Cheers

Many thanks for offer however I have now acquired a set of stamps
The instructions from DVLA were originally quite specific in that the VIN had to be stamped IN TO the right hand side of the headstock, which I assumed ruled out welding a plate on. My newly powder coated frame already looks a `right mess` where I have exposed the original numbers so a bit more damage won`t make much difference
By the way that`s a Monza number you've stamped out
Forgot to ask how your restoration is getting on, it seemed near to completion at last post

Yes, it's a pity all this came to light too late.

I have found another Monza frame that is surplus to requirements but again no documents with it so not sure whether to build another one
Tempting though
