    Posted: 10 Feb 2018 at 19:53
I'm working my way through my '79 Convert bought late last year. One of the drive coupling UJ's is binding slightly. On checking, I can't see the 55 x 22mm UJ's available anywhere. Guzzibits don't even list the complete coupling for the Convert. Does anyone know of a source, preferably just for the UJ's?

Thanks Brian. My mistake, that should have been 50 x 22mm. They don't seem to list that size.

Have you tried greasing the one you have? You can dismantle them.

Not yet Brian. That's the next stage when progress isn't interrupted by the rugby. I might be lucky and get away with a re-grease, but I thought it would be handy to have a source for the replacement spiders in case they're needed.
You wouldn't think that Guzzi would use a unique bespoke size, and that it would be readily avaialble, but maybe there was a reason for it.

I was looking it up in the forum,
http://www.guzziriders.org/price-difference-for-uj_topic4561_page2.html, it is a confusing mess of different bearing sizes.

What I know, don't ignore the rumbling. Uj failure, if you survive hearing it disintegrate on the move, then once you've stopped the pieces collapse and you can't push the bike even one yard.

Hi Thanks for that info.

There's no rumbling at the moment, I discovered the slight bind on the UJ whilst de-bugging a newly purchased Convert last year.

I'd like to get hold of a couple of spare UJ's so I've got them to hand for the future.

Thanks Dave.
At least that proves they exist? If they're available in the States, they should be over here too. I will do a bit more digging, and get back with the results for anyone else who might be looking for them in the future.

Morning,
As an aside, what are your thoughts on the convert as a daily ride?
Regards

I'd give it a good one everyday until you can't get your leg over.
