    Posted: 31 Oct 2017 at 04:36
Hi again,

Just acquired a Falcone sport from Italy. There is no magneto kill button, and by the looks of it, nowhere there could be a wire coming from the mag to go to a switch. Have to stop the bike by sticking my hand over the carb intake. Anyone seen this before? I swear the bike is all original, but no switch? Cheers, Tony.

Can't answer your question, but the wiring diagram doesn't show any kill switch.

Thanks for the diagram. It seems strange that I have seen no end of pictures where there is a kill switch - and even it is referred to in documentation. Thanks, Tony

Slightly relevant, when I first started using my old Bantam was the same, stopped it by stalling it in idle with the front brake on.

I am sticking my hand over the carb inlet to stop it. Seems like an oversight on the design front.

Just a bit!

I am reminded someone told he stopped his (Bantam) by lying it down.

This came up on the Google Guzzi singles group a while ago, general opinion was to whack the throttle open and it kills the engine.

What sort of magneto is it? Are there points? If so all you need is a way of shorting between the points with a switch to kill the spark.

https://web.archive.org/web/20091123123947/http:/www.devce.demon.co.uk/falcone/sgr1.htm

The above link to the Nuovo Falcone parts book shows the assembly on the right to be a de-compressor,or valve lifter.Does your bike not have the same? If it has, why not stop it with that? Many old Brit' bikes used that method.

It appears that the earlier Falcone had the valve lifter fitted to the timing cover as opposed to the cylinder head,as was Velocette practice.

Hi all, I guess operating the valve lifter would work to kill the engine as in Brit bikes. But as I haven't yet seen (or translated) any instruction in the manual to do this, I hope there would not be any risk internally if operating it whilst the engine is running. Cheers. Tony.

That system was so commonly used, I very much doubt there could be a problem.

I agree with Brian. As there is no kill button shown in the wiring diagram it may be fair to assume that the valve lifter was intended as a starting aid and an engine stop.
