My DR 650 has a kill button, (which I don't use) and a decompressor, which I do.
I think it avoids backlash through the drive system.
So I'm in agreement Loria1--  welcome to the forum and greetings from Spain.

No kill switch the only button on the bars should be your horn button. To kill it you just pull in on compression release on the left bar end.

No,you can't stop an engine with a euphemism.Though you might mislead it.

If memory serves, and I do mean if!
The only magneto bikes with a kill button that I can recall were parallel twins, as they had no valve lifters. My M100 Panther,B33,Red hunter etc were all   stopped by the use of a valve lifter. As of course were the Brough and Vincent V twins.

I remember using that method n my original BSA Blue Star. Never had a problem.

I agree with Brian. As there is no kill button shown in the wiring diagram it may be fair to assume that the valve lifter was intended as a starting aid and an engine stop.

That system was so commonly used, I very much doubt there could be a problem.

Hi all, I guess operating the valve lifter would work to kill the engine as in Brit bikes. But as I haven't yet seen (or translated) any instruction in the manual to do this, I hope there would not be any risk internally if operating it whilst the engine is running. Cheers. Tony.

https://web.archive.org/web/20091123123947/http:/www.devce.demon.co.uk/falcone/sgr1.htm

The above link to the Nuovo Falcone parts book shows the assembly on the right to be a de-compressor,or valve lifter.Does your bike not have the same? If it has, why not stop it with that? Many old Brit' bikes used that method.

It appears that the earlier Falcone had the valve lifter fitted to the timing cover as opposed to the cylinder head,as was Velocette practice.

What sort of magneto is it? Are there points? If so all you need is a way of shorting between the points with a switch to kill the spark.

This came up on the Google Guzzi singles group a while ago, general opinion was to whack the throttle open and it kills the engine.
