I haven't looked at the alternator side of things yet. Hoping for the easy fix. The relay I swapped is the correct one, I got the colours off the wiring diagram I saw. Are all the fuses in the battery area or is there a hidden one

Same configuration as on the loop frames. Alternator between pots, belt driven from crankshaft.

Jim, I don't know the new Norge so can't tell you where the fuses are, but I would expect them all to be around the battery area.

The only fuses I can find are beside the battery. I have checked them all and they appear OK but I will replace them anyway. Sprayed some contact cleaner into all the connections

Check the main cable on the back of the alternator, it may appear OK but there are instances of them having badly crimped connectors. My Stelvio had a similar fault, it was the connector.

Fuses. You have the block of 6, ABCDEF, then there are two blocks of two fuses. One has the 40A fuse for the alternator output, the other has 2 x 20A fuses, one of which controls the alternator.
You have checked all 10?

They are shown on the wiring diagram as being close to the battery, but you can't rely on that.

What fuses have you found?

a 30 and 40 together and two twenties, i cant for the life of me find any more.

i tried Canuck's suggestion and jumped the 30 and 87 terminals on the logic relay and got dipped beam and charging at 14.2v     15a fuse on main beam had blown so that has been replaced and working

i will fit a new relay tomorrow and hope that's it

Does your brake light work?

Fuse A, which feeds the supply to energise the relay also feeds both brake light switches. It also feeds the electric screen height motor.

You have a bank of fuses A to G, on mine behind and above the battery at the front edge of the tool tray under a metal cross piece.

OK, hang on, what fuse have you replaced? There is no specific fuse for the main beam, both high and low beams are fed from the second relay, and that is fed from the output of the light logic relay.

If you have found a 15A fuse blown, likelyhood is it's fuse A, which would disable the lighting and stop charging, so your relay might be OK. Have you tried the system after changing the fuse with the relay in place?
Brian.

actually didnt last night, when i got the main beam to come on i reckoned it was the relay, i will try tonight.

the bloody auxilliary fuse box has Spare Fuses on the sticker and i never paid it a second thought having never had to change on in 4 years so felt a bit stupid when i actually opened it up and saw active fuses, the first 15a had blown

I'm very confident that is the only fault.

I'm actually more concerned about why it failed. Had you been adjusting the screen height when the problem happened? That fuse also powers the screen motor.

Just a precaution, but when you get it running tonight, just try the screen position both ways just to make sure the fuse doesn't blow again. The only other load, apart from the two relay coils, is the stop light, and I doubt those LEDs would blow the fuse.
Brian.
