I get 45mpg on the motorway which is a bit disappointing.  It starts a bit too easily and one of the float bowl gaskets gets a bit moist at times.  Both suggest it's a bit rich.  If one of the float valves is leaking I'll need to fix that before trying any other tuning.

I have a pal who says he gets 35mpg out of all his bikes.  Not surprising  I can't  keep up with him on the road!

One thing which I found did make a difference was to replace the needle (atomizer) jets. It wears oval with the needle flapping about in it, so causes rich running.

Is the colour of your plugs normal when you service it? Long term running rich would have an effect on that I would have thought.
The most economical two wheeler i have had in recent years was a Burgman 400. 75 mpg on general running about. I always thought that the elastic band transmission would be inefficient, but it can't be that bad!

I think the engine efficiency counts more than the transmission.

Hi @Guzziboy! What number Anniversario do you have? I just bought 160. Love the Merlin fly screen and slipon exhaust. Where did you buy those Mistrals and for how much? Do you have a video or recording of the sound from those new slip ons?
