A little bit more done. Exhaust arrived today and were immediately fitted. Just need to tidy and paint the front end. Make a wiring harness and but/fit a screen.
Anybody have any ideas on buying a chrome headlight rim?

I flipped my forks so the standard mudguard fitted.
Took mine out for a shakedown run today (private roads obviously). It's running very nicely, handles well. Running a total loss ignition system limited things (as did a lack of all other electrics and instruments) but it was enough to try things out and fire up my enthusiasm to get it finished. I'm running v9 needles in the carbs, dropped them to their lowest notch but could still do with the mixture weakening a smidgeon. Any ideas? |

From factory manual, re 1000 SP:
Choke: 30mm Throttle valve: 40 Atomizer: 265 Main jet: 125 Pilot jet: 50 Starter jet: 80 Needle: V9, 2nd notch from top Float: 10 grams Idle screw: 1.5 turns out from fully screwed in. It's possible needle jet ("atomizer"?) is worn making it rich. |
