I have been pondering whether taking one of the bikes out was a good idea but, remote though the possibility may be, I feel that the chances of ending up in A&E (especially given some of the lunatic riding / driving I saw yesterday) mean it would not be public spirited so the Norton and Guzzi remain unridden for the foreseeable.

For me in deepest Dorset,  the task today was to explore a charging hiccup on the v50.
I had noticed my charging voltage indicator had showed an excess charge last time I was out on the bike.
I ignored it as I hadn't ridden it much and assumed it was working hard to top up the battery.
I therefore charged the battery up , but still the excess showed , therefore the problem needed exploring.
I have the Bosch system on the bike with a Wherle red regulator,  which has hitherto worked well.
All the checked pointed me to a dodgy regulator.
I had an old mechanical regulator,  so set to cleaning the points and static air gaps for the contact posts and armature air gaps and eventually finished off with tweaking the tab to adjust the final voltage , with lights on an off.
Just over 14
Then a cup of tea.
And a Wherle in the bin.

I avoid going out on a bike on Sundays if I can at the best of times. Too many loons and thus coppers.

I took "Four Brothers" for a run up and down the road in the sunshine today, first time on a bike for almost 5 months, felt great...
May well take it for a proper ride tomorrow, not far, but far enough to remind myself what all the swearing in the garage is for..

Whatever you chose to do , stay safe and stay well...

I balanced the carbs on the T3.

It was the first time I'd turned on the ignition since I replaced the failed rear brake light switch.  The new switch was permanently closed-circuit.  B**ger.  Not only do I need a *new* new switch, I'll also have the infinite joy of bleeding the bleeding' linked brakes again.  Oh, Joy!

Not at all jealous of that collection or your workshop. I would be embarrassed to post a comparative picture of my garageConfused
(Did they really need another clean? I can't believe that any of them were dirty before! Still, might as well polish them and just admire your collection I suppose in the current circumstances)
BTW, is that a towball on your old V7? What did/do you tow with it out of interest?

You keep polishing and eventually wear the paint off.
Well, that's my excuse.

Very enviable collection John. The V7 Sport looks stunning in that colour combo. It might be my new favourite, damn!

Are we allowed to ask what’s on the bench?? Looks very interesting! Thumbs Up

Finally put the Airone back together after winter minor rebuild to find lost horses (and confirm that I had bought a genuine Sport) and some tidying up/rechroming. All good and whatever I did (didn't find anything actually 'wrong') seems to have worked at least a bit. Only a 'high' speed run will prove whether I've got them all back but restricted riding at the moment makes that a bit difficult. Just got to sort out a rather copious oil leak from the top of the pushrod tube (RTV will be my friend hopefully) and I'm good to go but not sure where or whenWink

John,
Lovely bikes..  I see now where I am going wrong, I need a much longer garage (and fewer bikes...!)

Cheers,

The rear brake of my 850 GT was binding, it would not release fully after aplication. So off with the back wheel and try to remove the brake shoes.
The return springs are very strong and I decided not to risk damage or blood removing them in a none controlled fashion. So I used one of the reccommendations on Greg Benders'site.http://www.thisoldtractor.com/moto_guzzi_loopframe_brake_shoe_spreader_tool.html

The last method on the page, the McPherson strut compressor.A set can be bought from ebay for around £20 and it works perfectly.
I took some photo's of my own but "Post Image" isn't allowing me to up load beyond about 10%. Any ideas why? It isn't normally a problem.
