[Quote] Had 30 mile ride out on 110cc Zigolo. Relaxing ride cruising at 40 mph no rushing around.
Zigolo covered 200 miles since restoration. Bike improving with every journey. Happy days.[Quote] S**t Happens just when you are enjoying life. Discovered today that parts to repair my 20 year old Ford Galaxy unobtainable and when they were available cost including labour charge would be twice car value. Time to visit scrap yard then look for replacement car. Annoyed that I can purchase parts for an Italian 60 year old Moto Guzzi but unable to get parts for British Ford Rant over. With regret have decided to sell Zigolo to help finance car purchase (not a bloody Ford) Will post in bikes for sale next few days. Looking for £1900.00 bike in Essex. If interested PM me for details and more photos |

That's a shame - tough luck on the Ford. My own LR Discovery is about the same age but sails through its MoT every year and (apart from ruinous fuel consumption) is pretty reliable - and spares are readily available.

The Galaxy I owned had petrol engine, only 20 MPG local use. Think I will be getting a Honda for their renowned reliability and twice the MPG Speaking to owner of garage he tells me Ford spares are no longer cheap, in fact more expensive than many other makes.

Took the T3 up to Hoar Park (near Nuneaton) for the regular informal bike meet. Starting to be too many new bikes and, in particular H-Ds, but still some interesting oldies. Someone was up there for the second week on a V85TT but didn't get to talk. Anyone here? Phil

picture hosting sites I recently fitted a replacement cylinder head to my 1971 V7 Special because the exhaust threads were stripped. The threads in the "new" head looked good but it was found that they were worn and I couldn't tighten up the nut fully without it jumping the threads in the head .I mentioned this in passing to a friend of mine who is a retired machinist. He came and looked at the job yesterday and said "Easy,I'll make you an oversize nut in bronze" This morning he arrived with what you see above. It tightens up nicely. I wish I was that skilled. He's now going to have a go at sleeving the original head exhaust port back to standard. Edited by Dave P. - 09 Oct 2019 at 17:04 |

Ooh, they look lovely Dave. I believe there’s someone who makes a modified exhaust clamp with a lock ring. I was thinking to try those as on my V7 Sport the rings are prone to loosening off. Is that the reason your threads were worn - done up too many times?

Gutsibits have the locking variety Derek.I had thought of buying those but I'm glad I didn't, as I needed an oversize nut. Shame you can't get them in + .010" or + .020" like pistons.
Why were they worn? Old age I suppose, like the rest of us. Edited by Dave P. - 09 Oct 2019 at 23:02 |

Couldn't you drill them and wire-lock them to holes drilled in convenient fins? |

Well, tomorrow I get a notice of redundancy which might things up....but nil desperandum and all that. It means I had some time to fit bits to the DL650 that the postie brought without having to wait till the weekend.
The people at Suzuki wanted £280 for a centre stand. So being a cheapskate I ordered one from Cosmo in Greece at £115 posted. Crap instructions but no point lernin engineerin' if you can't work it out. Fitted the screen protector from slipscreens which fits where it touches. But for £20 I can live with it. Big foot for sidestand, extended mudguard and a luggage rack for a DL1000 for £55. No fitting kit but again, you can make or find fixings to get it on. The Cali EV got some new side panels from gutsibits and I might fettle the paint on the tank and get some other trimmings. But she still has that fuel hiccup. I'll get her to uncle Dodge and he can sort her out. Ho hum
