I wasn't sure where to post this. I am new to Guzzi's and to this forum (not new to bikes in general though), but... My favorite bike of all time it the Guzzi 1000s. I was looking at some of the newer V7 iiis and I was wondering if anyone has made one look a little more retro like a 1000s. Also, I was wanting a little more power out of the v7. I wish they made a new 1000cc or 1100cc version of the V7. It doesn't have to be a super-bike competitor, but a little more power for us 'fat Americans' would be nice. Anyone have a big bore V7 that looks like a 1000s, or some suggestions on hot to make one?Smile  -Todd

Guzzi themselves did it, albeit with normal bars and footrests, very nice though!

Not sure if this is any help or not, but I think Radical Guzzis in Germany may be able to help. Follow link below.

Well, well, well!, who would have thought it? a motorbike that looks and sounds like the motorbike that an awful lot of people have been after.

Will a certain marketing department take cognisance?, what's that rattling I can hear?, it's all the cynical Guzzi enthusiasts shaking their heads knowing it's highly unlikely, but it's exactly what Guzzi needs, a larger capacity street bike, the V7 is indeed a good bike, in the style that suits a Guzzi, but one with a bit more torque and mid range grunt would, in my own opinion, go down a treat.

Go on Piaggio, you know it makes sense!

If that was in production I for one would be VERY tempted to buy one.

Unless they also re-introduced the Loop of course!!!

To be fair the good thing about Guzzi being a small manufacturer is most "Cycle" parts from any range are interchangeable as the differences from say a T3-T3Cali or V1000G5-1000 Spada are mostly cosmetic the performance parts to Le Mans are expensive BUT you can swap the Fairings, Screens, seats etc across the range Sooner or later folk will be wanting a T5 engine as, according to Guzziology it is the ONLY 850 engine you can pop 1000 or even 1100 cylinders and pistons and heads straight on to, yet because of the smaller wheels they are none too popular therefore relatively cheap ...So the V7 range parts will be interchangeable As the Factory will be adding parts and alot easier with the ECU as they electronically re map to suit ..... there are an awful lot of Le Mans out there that are really a Spada, lots of V1000's that look like a T3 Cali, in fact one bike paper had a journo ride and report on a "Classic T3 Cali" but any one in the know looking at the bike could TELL it was a V1000 G5 with Cali seat/ and side panel badges on it, heck they didne even swap the rear lights from V1000-T3 and the V1000's used similar oem luggage big screen they had even left the V1000 dash in place no wonder he reported it seemed to have more grunt than he remembered, well yeah it was 1000cc engine not the 850

The V7iiis are GREAT bikes, but a little more power would be really nice. I am not looking to break any records, just somewhere in the 90-110HP (or so) range. The smaller engine is probably the ONLY reason that these bikes are not selling like hotcakes here in the USA.

Welcome svttodd, and greetings from Spain. I can imagine that the USA is such a massive place that there is a felt need for a larger machine, whereas titchy little countries like Italy and the UK are somewhat constrained in an East West context. The same applies to our respective cars.
I´m sure if I were to ride up to the northern coast on my 2014 V7 to catch the ferry to the UK the need for more power would soon be obvious on the motorways.
Where I live, (the foothills of the Sierra Nevada) anything more than 250cc is overpowered -- when I go to Orgiva 10 kilometers away I don´t get any higher than third gear, and I rarely exceed 3,000 rpm -- however, leaving the Everglades for the Rockies might be seen as an extreme solution.

There is a range of larger Guzzis, so I hope you get the opportunity to ride some, and find something more appropriate to your needs -- don´t be afraid of buying a good second-hand example, they are very long lived, and this forum offers great support for home maintenance.
Wishing you well in the current spot of bother...

Don`t get hung up on BHP as this can distort the picture when choosing a bike. This weeks Motor Cycle News, here in the UK, has some interesting stuff on this very subject which caused me to consider my own current bikes. Interestingly my 1200 Sport 2 valve produces nearly the same HP and torque figures as my 1150RT yet both bikes are aimed at different segments of the market. The new BMW R18 cruiser produces 90 BHP but a whacking 116 Ft Lbs of torque, clearly aimed at Harley Davidson. BMWs S1000RR produces 207 BHP but only 83 Ft Lbs of torque so although this is more than double the BHP of my bikes the torque is only an extra 10 Ft Lbs.
As Ben says its the bike that suits your needs when you ride it not the engine output figures. If output was important then my little Monza, at 48 BHP, wouldn`t get a look in but I can guarantee that it will put a smile on my face if I ever get the chance to ride it, but that`s another story.
You can always have more than one Guzzi

Warning, Personal opinion! I've alway thought that torque was way more important than bhp which made riding a pleasure rather than an aerobic/cardiac work out. As far as engine capacity is concerned, bigger often means the manufacturer took the easy way out and couldn't be bothered to get it right.JMHO.Wink
V7 Classic Black and gold was the best. But green & black was nice too. Now blue is in!

Yeah, I understand torque is really what you want. I was just giving a HP range because that is what most people recognize/understand when talking numbers.

You can get an 850 big bore kit for the V7, it is an American company that does them too!
