Are we looking at the crack in the drive box or the paint flaking off the wheel?

I think its a casting mark? is any oil coming from it?

Is that a gap between the lower "spoke" and the hub?

Yes the crack although there is no oil leaking at this time

As Mike says original casting mould is at fault, which tends to happen when used beyond their useful life as in trying to save money
