...twats!

Came out of work today onto the A11 heading home on the Honda. About a mile down the road there's a tailback for a good few miles. I switch the main beam on and slow down , into third and spidey sense activated. I get past a good many cars - some move over, some don't. That's fine. What I wasn't expecting was the turd in the blue transit who turned across the white line in front of me and stopped dead. I went to go past on the left and the moved forward to stop me. I looks over and the vape sucking scumbag is laughing. I gave him a gobful and asked him what his problem was. Then he gives me a big sh*t eating grin as if to say 'f@ck you' I'm not moving.  So, it's been a hot week at work and I'm cooking in my jacket, jeans and lid. The red mist rises and i boot his door. That got him moving. So, after another exchange of worldly wisdom and anatomy I scoots round him and set off.  THEN - ffs- some bloke and his missus scream at me and beep the fook out of their horn.  What's your problem then?

She leans out of the car and says ' you shouldn't be allowed to do that - we have to wait!'

Buy a f'cking bike then.  Off I trundle....and in the next 2-3 miles 2 more of the bastards closed the doors on me. Ride like a courier I say and show no mercy with the cagers!  Viva pony express!

As a workmate of years ago liked to say, the world's full of twonkers.

I'm not surprised tho that filtering winds up some drivers.

Why can't they understand that it's one less car that could be in front of them? If you want to human nature at it's worst in a queue, go on a cruise: The most decrepit old gimmers can can move like Zola Budd if they think they can get in front of someone, likewise, they can expand to twice their size if there is a risk of someone getting in front of them!

On the other hand, I was on the M42/M6 in the car yesterday afternoon. Traffic was slow but moving at 20-25 mph. If I was on a bike I would just be moving along with the traffic, but several bikes came through at about 50mph. No need in my mind.
Although I think I'm fairly aware, it's very difficult to know they're coming through until they are almost alongside.

I agree, if the traffic's moving then move with it I say, enjoy the ber-dump-ber-dump of your V twin and soak up the admiring looks Smile
If I filter steadily and politely then most car drivers are courteous, of course there's always the odd tw*t.  Sounds like Cugsy found one.
I tend to wait, they think they've 'won', but then an opportunity to zip past safely always opens up eventually and gives you a smug sense of satisfaction LOL

IMO the roads are a reflection of society in general; there are more selfish ignorant people and they're more frustrated by endless hold ups and traffic management.

Imagine if all those twonks were riding bikes? Better as it is I think...

PS. Main beam would wind me up!

Having spent a lot of time in high traffic areas I never really had much trouble filtering. Occasionally you would get the odd twat trying to be funny but most other road users seem to be aware you're coming through. I just take it easy and give a wave if they've moved over out of the way. Could be driving an HGV got me used to watching both mirrors for other users so I usually spot a bike coming through. Never felt the need to use the high beam to be seen; being heard is better!

Ok. Main beam in broad daylight was never a problem.  Most of the dozy buggers were half asleep.  And i was on a honda nc750....i can't .even hear it. 99% of the time its no problem but gobsh*te in his van was looking for a barney. Somtimes im happy to oblige. We are still seen as scum in this country. France was an eye opener

Got to add to this post (sorry).

Filtered past a long queue in first gear - nice and slow to avoid pee'ing off anyone.  Some tw*t starts flashing his lights, leaning on the horn, winds down his windows and starts flicking the V's at me !!!

I was sorely tempred to grab his fingers and break them.  Only the little voice inmy head saying "you'll be in sooooooo much trouble if you do" stopped me.

Best to stay calm and avoid the tw*ts if you can...

Trouble with Norfolk people is that every time they see a bright light coming they assume it's a UFO and panic that they'll be abducted and probed!

And Stuv65 from what you wrote you must have been on the wrong side of the road. Just saying.

Sometimes it's us and not them.Ermm

Calm yerselves down.
These folks are in and out of your lives in a few seconds. It is more a reflection on them than of you. Just wait until the traffic moves again. You're already ahead of the game.If you let them in your head then you are distracted for the next few miles and pay less attention than you should be doing.
So chill people.
Cheers
Min

You have to remember it's been exceptionally hot recently and that always gets tempers fraying.

When I'm in the car, the thing which pees me off is when van drivers try to "filter".

Not as hilarious as that moment when you, yourself, momentarily forget you are in the car and catch yourself moments before you try to filter!

Wise advice from theoneandonly - as the OP said, it's definitely a 'spidey-sense' thing when you're filtering - some gaps you just know don't feel right, and you wait until they do....  anything disrupts that state, and you're as well just to slot in to the queue and go with it for a while, or pull over for the equivalent of a quick smoke.

You have to understand peeps - he deliberately blocked me in. Not that funny or trivial a matter to me.  Im polite when i drive. Polite when i ride. Just don't wave a red flag in front if me.
