I usually pay about 40 quid return for my motorcycle on DFDS but I do go early, then I relax and settle down to a nice freshly cooked breakfast

Something suggests to me you don't take a lady with you...

(and apologies to offended lady members, it's a joke: I think my wife can get everything in 'her' pannier, I can hardly lift it!)

The ferry I normally use these days is Newhaven Dieppe. 4 hour crossing but anyone of mature years (over 60) gets a 20% discount, though you have to ring.
Brian.

Better 5 minutes late in this world than years early in the next.

Me and the boss lady used to go everywhere by bike - from snotty superdream, fully loaded maggot (which was a comfy bike for long trips) to my katana. But, as the seat got smaller on the bike and consequent increases in her seat (plus big comfy cars) she got out of it. Plus, the struggle under the flyover trying to get waterproofs on made it a ball ache. Good days, but I likes my own miserable companyTongue
Honda nc750x ...hmm - a superdream for the 21st century? ZZZZZZ But the goozi is back running..yesserii jim bob. Fun time
