For those of you with nothing better to do - details of this month's Essex branch meeting;

  20th August; Axe and Compasses, Arkesden, CB11 4EX

Note this is a lunch time event, congregating from around 13:00. All welcome regardless of your ride.

I'd love to get to the meeting. My parents met in the Axe & Compasses during the war, when dad was home on leave. Mum lived in Arkesden and dad in Littlebury. Sadly, it's nearly 200 miles, so you'll just have to raise a glass for me.

Hi
   I was on my way to this meet with a set of spark plugs ( Dragon rally)  for you ,I got just outside Cambridge when battery light came on for no charge .
A wire had broken off at alternator after awhile I managed to get a bit of wire to join the break up but it was thin wire and was concerned it would burn out so I turned around and went home .
Any way 1100 sport ran great and the wire held .

And very good cake it was too!  We both had the same idea Johnno, I popped over via a scenic route through the fens. 300 miles there and back with some fabulous "V7 roads".
Only hiccup for me was being hit by a VW Ouch, but luckily I managed to swerve and stay on and got away with bent exhaust brackets. Phew, close call...

What is it with Guzzi and alternator wiring?  I think the V7 alternator goes through a connector that's a bit of a weak spot, must check mine out soon. Glad you managed to get home OK.

Cheers, Pete.

Yep - A well attended meet as it happened. Pics are on the Club FB page, I never seem to get on so well trying to stick stuff up on the forums.

Johnno - you may have to consider the fact that I am a common factor in your misfortunes, so perhaps a contributory factor?

It is a fine pub set in beautiful surroundings, so given your back history you should definitely consider having a visit if you are ever in the area.
