Weather and injuries permitting, I hope to be in on the Bristol ride. Anyone else?

Sorry - I'll be sunning myself in Devon for that week.

Also, not being a gentleman or distinguished, I'm not sure they'd let me in !!

On a serious note, I can't help wondering if someone's making a nice profit out of it somewhere - expenses. I've had quite a bit of encouragement to make donations and get sponsors since signing up for it. Maybe more will be revealed on Sunday.

Really?  If you doubt the integrity of the charity and its motives, don't participate.

Which charity is involved?

They are linked to Movember, the men's prostate cancer charity. I think I read somewhere about 80% of profits going to charity.

I see what you're saying Barry and agree with what you say. That's why I'm going along to see for myself. No money has changed hands depending on the vibe I get I'll either go next year with sponsors or forget it. It will be an experience anyway.

Given that it is, first and foremost, a fund-raising event, I think that's a bit naff. You should, at the very least, sponsor yourself and consider it an "entry fee".

From the Bristol DGR Facebook page:

Bristol is officially taking part in the world's largest charitable motorcycle event for owners of classic and vintage styled bikes on Sunday September 24th.

"The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride brings together over 70,000 well dressed gentlefolk in 600+ cities on stunning motorcycles for men's health across 95 countries. The goal for 2017 is to raise awareness and $5m for prostate cancer and men’s mental health on behalf of charity partner the Movember Foundation.

All participating riders must be registered upon The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride website to unlock local 'ride details', and to be in the running for amazing prizes and rewards for your fundraising efforts."

Support it by being part of the fund-raising. I'm just stunned that anyone would consider participating and not helping, in even the smallest way, to help with the fund-raising. Especially a fellow Guzzi-rider.
