Using IE, if I right click on a URL in the address box top left, I can then paste that URL into a post here, and it is a "live" link.
Others have problems doing this, the copy and paste works of course, but all that is copied is the text.

If any of you have this problem, could you help by posting your browser detail? Trying to find out why this is and if it's browser related.

I sometimes find I need to press carriage return after inserting a link but not sure if it's necessary here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babs_(land_speed_record_car)

Interestingly it only turned the first part of that into a link (before the opening bracket).

And the second time it's just put text......

Firefox 58.02 64 bit, Windows 10 pro (up to date).

but that one worked without a carriage return. It may depend on some of the characters in the URL?

Firefox can do it like IE, however in any case to be sure it displays properly put it between [ url ] ... [ /url ] (without the spaces)

I am told that copying URLs with Internet Explorer or Edge it is automatically converted to a live link. With Chrome and Firefox it doesn't, but looking into a fix.

The forum designers say.
The post editor uses the Rich text Editing API built in to the web browser.
The Microsoft one for IE and Edge auto turns URL's in to hyperlinks, but the others for Chrome and Firefox do not.
