Depends what you want from a club I suppose - magazine, rallies, local branches, meet up with other Guzzi owners. There's more to it than the website and forum. Bear in mind that it's run by volunteers, and Nigel has been on holiday recently.

I do resent this drive towards Facebook for use by forums. I won't use it under any circumstances. I am confident that Brian wouldn't sell our data, even if he did he wouldn't get tuppence  for it anyway because the
Personal data is so limited. I can therefore access and post in  the forum with confidence. Can't say the same for Facebook, Google, Amazon pretty much all the banks etc etc.

I'm known through out the oceans of the world for not being on Facebook.

They were never interested in the Website I thought, more the club.

It's a pity though, considering the amount of money thrown at that new website and forum.

But it's not the money you throw at something, it's the enthusiasm you create among members which makes or breaks things.

Yes RL1, it is true to say that a vocal few in the club are not in favour of internet forums, and they are the ones who go to the AGM. If enough others went, maybe things could change.

I tried facebook for the Guzzi club and gave up
some people seem to enjoy having a go at you, something they would not do to your face
I get bored quickly with people like that

One common factor. Wink

But I wish Nigel every success.

Is it a generation thing? I recently joined the VJMCC forum and it is hardly used from one week to the next. There are some pretty derogatory comments on there about forums being old fashioned and seemingly most VJMCC members communicate on Face-ache or Instagram. I get the impression that they have a lot of younger members than, for instance, this forum? Just a thought.

This Forum's format works perfectly for me and I would suspect most other members here.

Brian is right in relation to enthusiasm and that was lacking in spades with regards to the new website that the Club ( MEMBERS!!!!) paid handsomely for.

Amy meaningful criticism of it's woeful design and performance were always met with a resounding Luddite rebuke by a certain over vocal few so I never renewed membership.

As for Facebook, count me out.

The amount of knowledge on here is incredible and it's always possible to get a laugh mainly due to the fact that nobody is ever trying to have a pop at other posters.

No, it's a pity about the Club Website but this place suits me fine thankyou.

The one benefit of a structured forum over FB is that you can search an item fairly easily, and also you know which section to look in. In terms of technical help I think that works very well.
