Well, after getting the bevel box back and then having to trawl the interputer thing for m7 bolts I finally decided about 8pm tonight that the garage was the only place cool enough to be. The house is boiling even with about 12 fans whizzing away.

So, the bevel box went back on fairly easy but getting the bloody rear wheel up through the narrow gap for it was a pain. But, it went in and everything is lubed and greased, brake caliper is back on as well as the hagon shocks. The pain though is getting the rack and seat lugs lined up. Then the little m6 captive bolts on. I've had to do worse so it annoyed me a teeny bit. I'm sure there's a better way.

By this time, the thunder and lightning was boiling the sky and the rain came. I was nearly done, just the exhaust and side bits left. But I was worried that the electric show was going to pop the breaker so gave in and I'm back in the 30 degree heat.

MOT on friday.  Better bloody pass. If the missus finds out what I've spent on this bloody bike I'm dead
Due to italian electrickery I am saying nowt. Despite nearly giving the Vstrom away the honda has gone...

You can tell us how much, promise we won't tell.LOL

You have had a bit of bad luck with it though, I'm sure the MOT will just be a formality.

To be honest bikes "Stood for some time" often have issues that those used regularly never have , as you found out no doubt BUT once gone through they tend to be fine.... When I acquired the 76 V1000 way back in 1990 I did have to take it apart .....took me a good 6-8 months to sort it and then the next 12 months I kept finding all sorts of small bodge jobs that worked 'till they didn't .... sometimes it really can surprise you how inventive some folks are ..... You done a good job there buddy

One time I was in Motomecca buying my annual stock of bits and the bloke mentioned it's quite common for people to spend a grand or more in one go if doing a rebuild or refurb.

Cost me about £3.5k to put my H1 Kawa back together from boxes of bits. That included a crank build up, rebore and pistons, chroming, wheel rims and spokes and stuff. Still on original paint and Allspeeds though. I got it for free mind, so I reckon I’m still ahead. It may not be pristine, concourse or original, but it’s a great ride.

I’ve not had the luck with various of my old bangers this last eighteen months. They seem to have been up on the table in succession absorbing funds, and I still have a full winter of work queued up with them, possible two.

You need £6k for a professional rebuild of a Ducati Bevel twin engine, before you start on the rest of the bike!

Well, lessee...I reckon the bugger owes me about (drum roll) da da da da...about £3800. And thats before I start knobbing about with cosmetics!

But,seriously but I must laugh like a loon when I start the fat, wobbly dodgy and definitely clunky bugger.  I do like V twins. Mind I like big in line 4's...who am I kidding? I loves me bikes.  <aybe in a year the honda will grow on me.
The pics (if they attach) show some of the half mile farm track I rattle down. The guzzi is comfier and more stable than the honda. She ain't pretty but she's working fine and I think the mad bad and sad days are over...I hope. Mot on friday.

Due to italian electrickery I am saying nowt. Despite nearly giving the Vstrom away the honda has gone...
