OK, apart from the clutch slipping on the old girl I was a bit surprised to find myself in 5th gear and no chance of downshifting it.  I was coming off the the M11 slip road to Cambridge and went to drop to 4th but the shifter wouldn't knock down. The clutch was fine and with a superb amount of skill I avoided every traffic light and give way for a couple of miles in 5th...Embarrassed   A couple of miles later and she was back to normal. Clunk click every change. Nothing since - the usual 15 neutrals and clunky gear change.
Since I got back (70 miles later) I dropped every oil - engine, gearbox and drive shaft. I've got a couple of 3 or 4 mm shards of metal on the gearbox plug. I've seen worse. Fingers crossed it was just hot...

Or will the doomsayers kick in?  Wink
Honda nc750x ...hmm - a superdream for the 21st century? ZZZZZZ But the goozi is back running..yesserii jim bob. Fun time

Might be return spring , if it happens again just reset it for next gear change by foot

more likely grunge in gear change had it on the V1000, same linkage, take the linkage off where the big bolt is clean grease re assemble then lots of lube on the wee bits if the return spring is buggered (tech term there) it will never come back, with all the wet n salt most likely gunge in that there big bolt wot 'olds it

Metal flakes in gear box is not a good sign , so keep an eye on that by dropping oil often
