Just in case anyone in the area is interested, this show will have new and old bikes present.

Anyone who is also a member of the British Motorcycle Charitable Trust gets in free.

BMW, Ducati, Triumph, Norton, Royal Enfield and MV Augusta will be there, sadly not Moto Guzzi.
Brian.

Better 5 minutes late in this world than years early in the next.

Pity, Paul and Brian from Corsa usually make an appearance. I'll try and make it this year.

Hi, yes, definitely come, should be a good day. (Not at all biased - well maybe, I am a member of the Brooklands Motorcycle team  Wink)

Good luck with raising interest....apparently these sort of motorcycle gatherings are not exclusive enough!

I'll be there, along with the rest of a bus-load from our local British bike club.

Saw a few Guzzi's, including a V7 and a V35 or V50 on Test hill :-)

I thought the number of bikes there was higher than ever. Minor players such as Norton and Brough made the effort so where were Moto Guzzi? Is this the first sign they're going to have a problem with meeting EU emissions compliance and thinking of throwing in the towel?

No, the guy from the local shop had not been approached to attend, and also he told me that these shows often do not result in any sales. Bearing in mind he has to pay a number of staff extra time for Sunday hours and transport the bikes, he needs to be sure it's worth it.
I know the Royal-Enfield dealer sold two bikes on the day.
Were you the V7 that rode the hill in the afternoon ?

Not me Guv, I'm the one who took the wrong way out and got stuck inside the Concorde area!Embarrassed

If you're talking about Corsa Italiana from Hersham then Paul and Brian own the business. I can understand they may not make a sale but if you're not seen then folks forget you exist. Even if they weren't invited it's a pity they didn't push for a spot.

but how much do they have to pay for the spot? A dealer friend of mine said it just isn't worth the expense and hassle of doing the Calne bike day which is huge these days

That's true enough, but Calne is the only major biking event I go to in the South where I actually got to see Moto Guzzis in any number. I mentioned the Popham meet where apart from all the usual suspects many smaller one make clubs have a presence including rarities like Moto Rumi. Apparently there are those who only attend one make events but to me that's preaching to the converted which is unlikely to attract new blood to the marque. It's a pity 'cos MG need to sell more bikes in order to develop the next generation models, and at the moment they're stuffed with only having an air cooled, shaft drive, V twin to offer. Many here have no intention of ever buying a new bike so the future of MG depends on buyers being attracted away from the mainstream marques and to do that they have to be seen.

Preachy rant over!

See thread about Moto Guzzi Day 2016, organised by Piaggio. New bikes, test rides, old stuff, the whole lot!

Which makes their decision to stay away even more confusing as several other local dealers like Jack Lillie Triumph and Woking Yamaha did show up. I saw several Guzzis scattered around but how much better it would have been if they had been all together?

As for the Potterspury show I got an email too, but how many non MG owners will get to hear of it?
