On my 1200 sport ....basically a Breva I use Avon Spirit ST a good grippy tire you can rely on up to the edge of and they keep their shape well with a 2 compound, hard wearing center strip and softer grippy outer edge. Mileage will depend on your self control of the right wrist.
Keeping their rounded profile means there is not so much squaring off with consequentially better handling up to the end I have found these Avon's wear out together while the Michelin Pilot Road 4 the front would last longer. I have used Michelin Pilot road tires 2, 3, 4 on my Ducati Multistrada(120,000miles) and also the Sport(50,000miles) and I would not go back to them now.

thanks for the reply.
that sounds good the z6 is an old tyre now but the only trouble with it is the speed that it squares off. did the NC500 last june and the profile was great until a short blast down the motorway and the tyre was square . i hate motorways but sometimes there a nescesary evil.i will check them out craig |

I've never had a bad set of tyres, and none that squared off like your Z6.
I've too have had Michelin Pilot Road 2, 3 and 4 and they were all great, in fact the PR2 was the most recent Michelin I used and it was impressive. I also had an Avon sports tyre (the Venom now obsolete) and that was also very good. The current tyres on my 1200 Sport (Breva) are Metzeler Roadtec 01 and they have been superb too, indeed the highest compliment I can pay is that they are invisible - since buying the Metz Roadtec 01 I am no longer think about tyres or grip. They just get on with the job totally unobtrusively. I'll be getting another set next time. I don't know how long they have lasted but I recently did a 4,000 mile trip including 2,000+ miles of motorway and the tyres shrugged it off, no unusual or abnormal wear. Tony |

Hi tony
Heard good things about the 01s The z6s were a cheap buy for a 1st set of tyres but not to bad May look at the 01s as a comparison to the avon |

I get about 6000 miles, a few more over the winter.
About the same as I used to get with the Michelins , even on the Ducati which is a lighter bike.

I have just fitted a set of the Avon Spirits to my Breva 1100 - just because I like Avons and it supports British industry!! Once I get the bike back on the ground it will be interesting to see how much I like them |

Avon make tyres in the Uk, but are owned by the American
company Cooper. Michelin make tyres in Dundee, but are French. Pirelli
make tyres in Carisle, but are Itallian. You could look at the British tyre manufacturers association, but they don't list any. Taken from the Money Saving Expert website.

and Dundee will soon be gone with 800 jobs lost.
i use Pirelli Angels on my Norge and never had reason to complain. bought last set off Bikespeed on Ebay, great price - then discovered they were only two miles away from me and i never knew they existed - couple of biker lads in a depot doing what they like to do and making a business of it

Well the bosses live in America. And usually that means all the company profits go there too.

I get about 6000 with the Michelins and the Avons but it is totally dependent on your riding style and the time of year. back in the summer (22/9/2018) I changed them after 4000 because I was off to Italy(Dolomites) and that set did Italy and they still have a fair amount of tread and they have done 5000 so far. 1800 miles of motorway to Italy and back not squared off at all. good luck Andy P
