A happy new year to all you Guzzi fans.
I Posted on the site in the past but cannot find the thread.
I stripped the g5 bevel drive last summer to helicoil the level plug thread, which i think has been a successful cure for the oil leak.  However when i assembled the bevel drive to the wheel & to the swing arm, i used copious amounts of Comma high performance bearing grease.  Unfortunately whilst riding at motorway speeds the grease is being flicked out onto the rear wheel rim, luckily not the brake side.  Is there any guide to how much grease should be used for this application?  I obviously was way too enthusiastic with the grease!

The manuals say a smear, but you may have another issue there mate ....you sure it is the grease? top tip new bevel oil, run it for 25+ miles undo filler it will "burp" stops pressure build up stops oil leaking forcing it's way past the large seal ...hope this helps

Yes it's definitely lumps/flecks of grease as opposed to the oil that had dripped onto the rim whilst parked.
I did use your advice & performed a few burps for first few rides thanks.

If they recommend just a smear then that is where I went wrong, I smothered it in grease!

Too much grease is bound to fly off.
You only need enough to allow the splines to move against each other. An anti-centrifuge grease would be best probably.
I always used a sticky marine grease which seemed to stay in place well.
Brian.
