Hi All,
Loving my V7 and so pleased I chose to keep it and sell the Griso
(I would have kept  both if I had the room and the money)
Not as powerful as the Griso but just as much fun!
However I am getting an annoying  rattle that sounds like it's coming from the front when I go over any large pot holes ect.
If you can imagine a large ball bearing dropping into a plastic box sort of sound.
I have checked the wheel and head race bearings and the forks work smoothly, there does not seem to be anything amiss on close inspection of the front end.
Any ideas?

Wildhenry.

Had this on my EV it was the fork yoke 1 bolt loose , check every nut n bolt no idea why it was loose as I had not touched the front forks at all but it had been for a service just prior to me adopting it!

Hi,
I've checked all nuts/bolts ect ect and it turns out that the culprit is the floating disc which is slightly looser than normal and rattles over big pot holes!
Guess I'll have to live with it.

Presume you mean the outer ring? Tend to agree don't think it's supposed to make noises loud enough to be heard while riding.

My local bike mechanic checked it over and the front wheel bearings, head race bearings ect are all OK and all nuts and bolts are secure.
Can't seem to think it could be anything but that floating disc!

Trouble is I can't imagine it making the sort of noise you describe. Like "a large ball bearing dropping into a plastic box"

I got a similar noise on my 2016 V7II Racer.By "floating disc" are you talking about the brake disc?If I cant find something loose, its going back to the dealer, its still under warranty.

If it still happens under braking, unlikely to be fork internals, rattling brake pads (not heard of this on the V7 but has affected many bikes/cars and is the most common cause of a metallic rattle over bumps from the front end) or disc related. Either way, I think I would want to identify the cause definitively.

Two bikes seem to report the "same" problem, one has ABS , does the other? Just curious.

Bob, the strangest things can be the cause so nobody will laugh Mate. I was thinking something in the headlight shell or a mirror head so we're both "out of the box"!

Never dismiss the obvious, I knew of a loud rattle in a car at certain revs, eventually traced to a spanner left in the engine compartment.

Loose wheel nuts in hub caps used to a be a good one.
