Greetings to all from a newcomer in the heart of New England!
I just took delivery of a 2016 Eldorado -- a very beautiful and carefully detailed machine I think!
There is a big problem though: the rear suspension is surprisingly harsh and as far as I can tell, there is no adjustment to compression damping -- only to preload.  So no way I know of to soften the ride.

Have any forum members experienced this, and have any members suggestions of how to improve the ride quality, including going to the aftermarket, if there is a better shock available?

Many thanks for your help -- in advance.

Too new to know about this But I took a ride on one and it was real comfy, I would have thought it would be somewhere in the user manual? or me I would give the dealer a call ... just a thought does the ride by wire settings alter suspension ie Veloce would be stiffer than Tourissimo .... just a total guess

Thanks for the suggestions.

I did query the dealer. They played around a bit with the preload and reset the sag and there was a noticeable difference, but the result was nothing approaching what I'd consider "compliant". In other words the basic issue is still there.
I believe the fundamental problem is that the compression damping is set too stiff from the factory and there's no way to change it.

The manual was the first thing I checked, and despite the fact that there's a nice looking ring on the top of the shock that looks like it's for adjustment purposes, regrettably it's only cosmetic! Bottom line: the only adjustment is preload.

Unlike some BMWs, Ducatis, etc., the suspension is not electronic so there's no connection between the engine mapping choices and the suspension setting.

In frustration I tried contacting Piaggio USA in New York over the past two weeks, but have never heard from them even after leaving 3 VMs.

I believe Ikon may offer an adjustable shock soon, but my experience with their products is not great.
Nothing in the works I'm aware of from Progressive, Ohlins, Penske, nor Moto Guzzi, of course. If any forum members know a solution, I'd love to hear it.

When (not if) I solve this dilemma I will post the fix for those who may be interested.

Meanwhile, I really, really like this bike -- my 5th Guzzi.

It seems quite often new Guzzi models have hard suspension, according to the forums. Not unknown for someone to change to different shocks to solve it. And IIRC someone once wrote, shouldn't have to do this with new bike.
