Do you have access to a strobe?

Fit a timing disc and pointer marking TDC, then point the strobe at it while cranking, should be enough to show the spark point.

A good idea Brian thanks. Have strobe but not timing disc, will have to get one. Any recommendation.

Sorry, no. I made my own, good enough for my purposes.

Have checked ignition timing. Correct static timing is 7 degrees BTDC actual reading is 53 degrees ATDC.
60 degrees out. Cutch housing connected to crankshaft with six bolts so must be one hole out.
Time to remove engine for inspection.
Brian thanks for timing idea, simple ideas the best. Clap

That would probably be your problem. Wink

Crab the frame and pull the gearbox off the engine. Actually easier than you might think.
