Ive just taken delivery of a Magni Guzzi 1100ie, a bit off my radar as Ive always had round barelled Tonti bikes

The Magni battery box size is causing Tayna batteries, who i usually buy from, some headscratching, as no 30ah battery that they sell, seems to fit in there. I say 30ah because I Googled what Daytonas use, to get some idea.

Can I get away with a lower ah/smaller battery and still get a reliable starter? Im presuming the engine has a fairly poky CR

Id also be pleased to hear from anyone with a custom 1100 cafe racer with a smaller battery stowed somewhere

TIA

look at what the V11 le mans uses, it is a gel battery laid on it's side vary small in my 02 one a new oem battery lasted the whole 10 yrs i had it ..if you do a search for "California Batteries you will see many of the AGM ones at 18 Ah 176x87x153 are the dimensions of Numax Gel Battery Tayna are not always correct their list for V11 le mans inc "Wet" batteries no way .....the gel battery sits on it's side so 87mm wide is the way it fits ..... hope this helps

All the later models are fitted with smaller AGM batteries.
Just go to the Tayna site and look for the battery which fits the space, has the terminals on the right ends, and has the highest AH rating. Look also at the CCA rating, but most will be more than adequate. I always think the AH rating is more important for longevity of battery life.

2 of those 3 dimensions on yr 18ah battery are bigger than my battery box Ken, so not even one of those will fit

there is some agm ones try looking at the V11 Sport the AGM batteries are only 16-18 Ah but bigger cranking amps ....as ||Brian says go through the listings find one that fits in the Battery box

175x87x130 seems the smallest AGM type they do turn over an 1100 Guzzi .....

even that's too big for the battery box Ken. I think Im going to have to go for 2 batteries in the 2 battery boxes in series (as apparently 1100 Sports have), or a £250 fagpacket Lithium battery

Clearly knowing the size of the space available would help
