Is it OK to change my headlight from the old 1980s 55 / 60 watt lamp to 55 / 60 watt halogen lamp on 1980 1000s

Are you talking about the light unit complete or just the bulb? If it's just the bulb then so long as it fits - the flange is the same, no problem. If it's more light you want, suggest you consider one of the Osram nightbreaker type, about twice as much light on the road for the same power rating. Philips do a version too.

Hi Brian Thanks for prompt reply. Talking about the bulb. Original spec is P45T 55 / 60 watt bulb and I can only find halogen of the type that fits. Using 45 / 40 Watt which is a bit dull. Will order halogen sure to be brighter

I thought all the 55/60 were "halogen" anyway? Which would explain that. |

I seem to remember pre halogen it was 45W or something, I can remember upgrading to "quartz halogen", everyone was doing it. Here's a web page that doesn't say it's quartz halogen. Bet it is tho. |

Excuse typing error should read 1990,bulb only lasted 28 years.
Glass shape was a globe not as halogen. Hope my electrician mates don't read this they keep telling me lamps emit light, bulbs are planted in the ground |
